Will the classes be recorded and made available for review?
Can I record the classes?
We want to make sure that you experience the whole course! We will permit you to record the classes if you know how. We will also be recording every class.
We will be recording every class for the purpose of making the classes available to anyone who missed a class because of scheduling, or tech issues, or just for review. We will make every effort to produce good and reliable recordings, but we can not guarantee that every class will recorded without any problems. In addition, we do not view our creation or distribution of the recordings as part of the cost of the course. We will not charge any extra money for access to the recordings we make, but this means that if at the end of a class we find out that there was a recording error we will not be obligated to refund any money.
We expect that our support of personal recordings will result in quite a few recording made of every class. As a result, we believe that we will have recordings of all the classes to make available to you.
Our willingness to allow recording does not change the fact that all material presented during the class is the property of Scott Landers and Dataview, LLC and may not be redistributed. Any recordings made may only be used and viewed by course attendees. Any redistribution of recorded material requires the written consent of Scott Landers and Dataview, LLC.
What will you do live in the markets? Will there be live trading?
This is by far one of our favorite questions.
As many know Scott has done this type of real-time trade analysis in prior live courses.
We will educate in this regard with live instruction detailing how we view specific trade
scenarios so you can see in real-time our thought process. This has been a highly educational
experience in the past.
Please make no mistake this, while we will point out trades that we would take from start to finish,
this does not mean we will execute trades. Furthermore, we ask you not to trade while attending
the class. This is an educational course and not a call room. If your decision to attend is based
on trading the stocks we discuss in real-time please reconsider attending. We aim to educate and
apply that information to real life examples so you can see how we would use the information.
The decision to spread the live sessions out over the course of a month is very deliberate.
This way you can focus on our instruction (rather than your P&L) in real-time knowing you can apply
what you’ve learned over the following week, and then return to the next live training with your own
experience.
Will I need TradeStation or HotScans for the course?
No you will not need TradeStation or HotScans for this course.
We believe that a good trader can trade with any product and any platform that displays price
and volume. We are you going to show you how and why.
We both like TradeStation and HotScans,
and we would recommend them to make your trading easier, they will not be required for attending or
learning the course material. We have gone out of our way to make this course platform and product
independent, and will even be recommending non-Dataview products.
Geoff would say that the effectiveness of this course will empower traders trade without the
assistance of HotScans or MarketGauge. However, Dataview knows that even the best of traders want to
make their life easier which is the reason to use their products, and good traders stay customers for
longer.
We have intentionally created the 2 HotScans classes as their own items because we see them as extras
for HS users. We may also consider similar a bonus session for TradeStation since we have a lot of
experience with TradeStation. If we find that there is a concentration of users on a particular
trading platform and someone who would like to lead a breakout session on using that platform we will
facilitate that as well.
What is the difference between Scotts’ course and Geoff’s book and course.
How much overlap will there be between what has been taught and the content of this course.
Scott’s prior courses focused on a specific entry and exit tactic which has come to be known as the 1-4 cone method. He also covered many additional areas of trading and technical analysis, but not with the same level of detail as the 1-4 method. This gave you a great set of simple to execute entry and exit rules with which you could start making money, and a solid starting point for developing a trading system. Similarly, Geoff’s book and Breakouts course is extremely focused on the methodology of evaluating and trading the Opening Range. This too a great set of basic entry and exit rules with which you could start making money, and a solid starting point for developing a trading system. Both of us sought to teach you how to start making money trading.
The Dataview Accelerated Trading Experience (DATE) will include the methodologies, and tactics of the
prior courses but they will be a fraction of the content because we are going to:
- Add more entry and exit tactics to your trading arsenal
- Clearly define and demonstrate multiple strategies that incorporate these trading tactics
- Walk you though the process of creating your trading plan based on the strategies and tactics this course will teach you
In a few words, the prior instruction was narrowly focused with limited emphasis on trading strategy
and how to put a comprehensive trading system together. Mastering trading requires comprehensive
trading plan as well as good trading tactics.
When we decided to do a course we started from scratch. We took a blank piece of paper and wrote down the requirements for becoming a great, well rounded trader. Starting with core belief that the best approach to trading is a systematic one, we created a trading plan template based on trading systematically. This template can be applied to swing trading or day trading. We’re going to walk you through this template. To execute your plan you will need one or more strategies. We have defined and will demonstrate strategies for you. To execute these strategies you will have to understand the tactics of entering and exiting the market. We have defined and will demonstrate these tactics. If you have taken Scott or Geoff’s course(s) and/or read Geoff’s book you will be glad you did, because you will have a good foundation in some of the trading tactics covered, but as outlined above there is a lot more to trading than good entry and exit tactics.
In addition to much expanded content this course will be taught in a much more structured way. We will be walking you through a process of learning then applying and being tested on the building blocks of a systematic trading approach.
Our objective for you for this course is to make you a more well rounded trader with a focused trading plan,
and the knowledge to execute it.
Will there be any future courses of this nature offered?
At this point in time we do not know if or when a course of this nature will occur again.
Can I see the Curriculum?
Yes, click here or go to the "Curriculm Outline" tab above for an outline of our curriculum to review what we will be covering.
This will give you an outline of not only the content but also the thought process
that has gone into this course.
What webinar technology will we use?
We will use a webinar based media system for our delivery of the presentation. It will allow us to educate via video, voice and text chat over the internet. This means you will sit back and watch the instructors desktop and listen to the audio via your computer speakers. The webinar software does enable the class participants to speak if you have a microphone, but our experience has been that the best way to conduct group presentations is to have you ask questions via the text messaging and only open a microphone at specified times or if the text chat becomes too cumbersome for a specific discussion.
